On the Mat: Forward Fold (uttanasana)
Today's asana is another restful posture- forward fold/uttanasana.
*The most important thing is that nothing is too rigid in forward fold. Bend your knees slightly if your lower back and/or hamstrings are tight. Let the arms dangle toward the earth. Heavy your head so your neck can relax completely.
*As part of the sun salutation, the passivity of this posture can be easily lost in transition. Even if you are only in forward fold for one breath, try to hook into that sense of letting everything go, rather than trying to force a stretch.
*I really like forward folds as a way to start the morning. Only a few breaths here can help awaken the spine so you are loose and limber for your day.
